Tip from the Pro "How to Limit your Mistakes and Watch Your Scores Decrease"
One way to limit your mistakes is by not trying the "miracle shot." You know the one, if I make it through that opening at the top of the tree, then my ball will be on the green. Well you nor anyone else has ever hit the ball that high and accurate to pull off that shot, so go theconservative route and pitch to the front of the green to give yourself a chance to get up and down to save par. The most recent and memorable impossible shot was Phil Mickelson at the 2006 U.S. Open where he went on to double bogey the 72 hole and lose the tournament. A pitch out and bogey on the hole would have put him in a playoff. Once you have looked at other options you will besurprisedhow many shots you can save. It is very important to practice your short game more than anything else. (The short game being 50 yards or less, including chipping and putts.) By practicing your short game, you will be confident to go the conservative route and play safe knowing that your short game will pull you through.
